| Membership |
Full Membership. Any current owner of a Kawasaki Vulcan motorcycle may be eligible for full membership in the Maryland Chapter 1-29, Vulcan Riders Association (also known as Maryland Vulcan Riders). Riders must be 21 years old, have a valid drivers license with motorcycle endorsement, and own any model of Kawasaki Vulcan motorcycle that is properly licensed and insured. Prior to accepting an application for full membership, an applicant is required to pass a short road riding skills qualification ride. This qualification ride may occur during a regularly-scheduled chapter ride or may be separately scheduled. One or more club Officers or other club members designated by the club President will assess a riders basic skills to ensure that the rider is capable of riding safely on the road and has the appropriate attitude to participate in group rides with our club. We perform this assessment to ensure the safety of all of our club members. If a rider is judged not ready to participate in club group rides, they may be afforded the opportunity to improve their skills by riding in small informal rides with club Officers or other club members. Club dues are $25 per membership year, which runs from April 1 through March 31. New or transferring members whose membership is accepted after August 31 will receive dues credit for the following membership year. Full members who are 70 years of age or older are exempt from paying annual dues. The membership requirement to own a Vulcan motorcycle applies only during initial membership acceptance. If a member keeps his dues current, the member can dispose of his Vulcan motorcycle and still maintain his full memberships. Riders who do not own a Vulcan motorcycle are not eligible to apply for full membership, but they are welcome to participate in club events as an invited guest of another member. Our membership application form is available online as a PDF file. It should be returned to the club Treasurer for processing. Family members can be nominated for Associate Membership on this form. A copy of this form with an original signature is required. Associate Membership. A full member can nominate their spouse/partner, children, or other immediate family members for associate membership. Associate members do not pay dues and may not vote at chapter meetings, but associate members are encouraged to participate in all club events. If an associate member acquires a Vulcan motorcycle and meets other full membership requirements, they may apply for their own full membership. Existing Full Members can nominate family members for Associate Membership by emailing the club Secretary. Life Membership. A full member who is 70 years of age or older at the time of their initial membership application, or at the start of a membership year, is exempt from paying annual dues and is considered a Life Member. |
